Flying in a motor paraglider is very fun. An excellent relaxation therapy, and a great adventure that provides the opportunity to discover new and surprising places such as the landscape that the horizon of Cartagena offers.
“La Boquilla” is the place for people of all ages and experience levels to practice paratrike or paramotor, motorized equipment that rises to great heights, composed of a landing gear and a paraglider hooked. Flights can be made either during the morning or the afternoon, depending on wind conditions. The best hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., but you can also enjoy a gorgeous sunset with a flight at 6:00 p.m.
I decided to make my flight at 10:00 a.m., when the wind was perfect, the sea was calm and the rays of the sun illuminated the landscape of Cartagena. “¡Do not be afraid!” Pablo, the instructor who guided our flight, told me.
There were 15 minutes flying. The journey began over the beach, where you can observe the “Manzanillo” sector, and enjoy the landscape you find by the North Zone with its buildings, Las Américas Hotel, the “Ciénaga de la Virgen”, “Tierrabaja”, and “La Popa”. You can also watch from above the area of “Marbella” and “El Cabrero”. I was not nervous. The breeze filled me with a feeling of calm, and with my GoPro tied on my wrist I took the best pictures and videos of this magical experience above the lovely beach and the modern skyscrapers.
When we were finishing our flight, I asked the instructor to maneuver. Pablo did not hesitate for a second, and I immediately felt the adrenaline rush through my body. The sea looked infinite and the vertigo feeling became inner peace while I was enjoying from the sky.
Without a doubt I want to fly again! And for those who are reading me, just relax and enjoy!
