From Chile to the incredible and authentic Cartagena de Indias
Thanks to the recommendations made by relatives and friends, Nicolás Arrieta, Paola Plaza and their kids, Ignacia y Nicolás, 13 and 10 years respectively, visited Cartagena de Indias in the last tourist season. Their choice was an outstanding success, considering that they returned to Santiago de Chile completely pleased by the plans they made in the city and the kindness of its people.
We found the Arrieta Plaza family on the Playa Blanca (Barú) beaches, just 45 minutes away from the city. There were they, resting by the shore of the beach while their children were enjoying the amazing Caribbean Sea. Without a doubt, a mandatory plan if you visit the charming Cartagena de Indias.
Playa Blanca is a paradise for them. The blue and green tones in the sea, the warm water, the fine, white and bright sand, the beautiful landscapes, the fishing, the exquisite flavors, the quietness, and some of the water activities like snorkel, are just a few of the attractions that led them to visit Cartagena.
During their stay at La Heroica, they also had the privilege to visit “Isla del Encanto”, where they could enjoy this beautiful corner of the Caribbean and the paradisiacal islands of the “Corales del Rosario y San Bernardo National Natural Park”. To them, Cartagena is a gorgeous city. “The Historical Center is wonderful, we were so eager to see it”, commented the merry family.
They went out and climbed the “Cerro de La Popa” at the best time of the year, just when they were celebrating the Virgen de La Candelaria day (patron saint of Cartagena). They also went inside the imposing fortress of the “Castillo de San Felipe de Barajas”, and visited some museums.
In words of the Arrieta family, the people from Cartagena are friendly and welcoming. To them Cartagena is incredible, authentic and full of corners that preserve a special essence, the same one that is going to force them to come back and include a few other cities in Colombia such as Santa Marta and Bogotá.
