Three days before arriving in Cartagena de Indias, I was searching the Internet for those places I had to visit in this city, my second destination in South America. I found Cholón a paradisiacal island that, by pictures, seemed like everything I needed to start my summer.
When arriving in Cartagena, in the company of 12 people, almost all foreigners, we left by boat at 9:30 a.m. from the dock of “La Bodeguita” –the only pier authorized for boarding tourism- to enjoy a day away from the routine, surrounded by beautiful blue waters and the perfect place to get a golden tan on the skin.
Remberto, the pilot of the boat, welcomed us and promised us an incredible day. The music, the breeze, the good vibe of my fellow travelers, and the color of the sea, had me excited. Definitely there is no better pleasure in the world than traveling to magical places.
Suddenly, the color of the sea began to change. Remberto explained us that it was thanks to its crystalline waters that these beaches are so famous among the people who looks for a place to simply have a great beach vacation.
45 minutes passed, and we arrived to Cholón. The party atmosphere sprouted from every mangrove that surrounds this Ensenada. It was love at first sight, this paradise in the middle of the sea surprised all of us who for the first time travelled there.
It is one of the most practiced activities in this area by both, local and foreign. The best part of this tour is that brings together nature, outdoor activities and lots of fun.

The ship makes a slow but steady tour within the beautiful Ensenada, just when it is getting ready to receive the sunset, the time when the sun hides inside the sea to leave a gorgeous landscape that combines orange and blue tones.
