A bike trip to romantic Cartagena

Cartagena welcomes, everyday, travelers who come to the city as “mochileros” (backpackers). They visit not just to know about the history and enjoy its charms, but also to make a living by working and selling crafts on the streets and city squares. When you walk by the streets of the Historical Center, it is not strange to see this type of tourists selling necklaces, bracelets, earrings, purses, bags, shoes, and more.

Through an exciting adventure, biking around the world, Aurora, a French blonde girl, arrived to Cartagena in the company of the Argentine Daniel. They currently hang out and work their crafts around the walled city.

Besides the good vibes they feel in this place, they live in love with the weather and the safety they feel riding the Colonial streets. They both often visit the Plaza de La Trinidad and the Plaza de La Proclamación. They enjoy their staying while they offer, on a bed sheet laid on the floor, all of the handmade crafts they elaborate. These articles are made out of recyclable products, and designed in disk shapes. Most of the times they work along other craftsman, also visitors from different countries who gather together to sell their art. Thanks to them, Cartagena is enlightened with different cultures and artistic styles.Auroraa-y-Daniel-mochileros-en-Cartagena1 They can make a good amount of money, specially during the weekends. Thanks to the tourist and locals who buy these crafts, Aurora and Daniel can afford their staying and the trips they constantly make. The ones who know this couple, told us all about their bike journey around the world and Colombia, and let us know that, thanks to Cartagena’s romantic atmosphere, they are happier and closer than ever.

Daniel and Aurora are just two of the thousands of foreigners that come to the city, and then feel forced to leave. Definitely, after just a few minutes in the city you won't want to leave. Cartagena is the best!
