Trekking Adventure to The Lost City
Take an adventurous tour to the Lost City (Teyuna). Teyuna is an sacred indigenous city, which is believed to possess a special and mystical energy. This is a great location to purify the spirit and recharge your body of vital and clean energy.
During the tour to the Lost City, you will see the wealth in flora and fauna of Sierra Nevada, Santa Marta, and you will observe and value this environment in a unique way thanks to the wide knowledge of our indigenous guides, who preserve their traditions and are bearers of ancestral knowledge.
4 Days Tour
Day 1
Our tour begins at the oldest Colombian city, Santa Marta, at 8:30 a.m. in a van with proper temperature, to the Aguacatera sector, where we change the van for a 4×4 that will take us to the mamey’s sector (Machete Pelao) in which we will have lunch.
After having lunch, we will start a trek of 7.6 km. to the first camp (Adam’s hut, rural community), where will spend the night. We will also make a stop at a crystalline water river to enjoy a refreshing dip.
Some tourists finish the trek within 3 hours, others within 5, it all depends on their physical condition. At night, an indigenous guide will talk to you about the history and customs of his community. He will be able to also teach you some phrases in dumana language and give you information about the region.
Day 2
We will start a trek of approximately 8 hours long, then, halfway, we will visit the Mutanzhi indigenous community and will be able to interact with its settlers. After this, we will arrive to the third hut (Paraíso Teyuna hut, indigenous community). It is located 830 meters above sea level, so we will be at the foot of Teizhuna (teyuna), Tayronas sacred city.
During this tour, we will see a good deal of the flora and fauna of the irreplaceable Place of the world, Sierra Nevada of Santa Marta.
In the afternoon, we will go for a dip in the river and relax; later, at night, your guide will talk to you a little bit more about the Lost City and its sacred meaning for the indigenous people of the Sierra.
Day 3
After having breakfast, we will leave at 7 a.m. to the Lost City. To get to the sacred city we will go upstairs through 1200 steps, built by the ancient Tayronas.
After approximately an hour, we will arrive to the city and make a tour through the several sacred places in that area. There, el Mamo (spiritual indigenous leader) will narrate sacred stories to us and give us life-advices.
At 11 a.m. we will return to the third hut to have lunch. After eating, we will begin a 5 to 6 hour way down to the second camp (Mumake hut, indigenous community), where we will spend the night.
Day 4
In the morning, we will go to El Mamey (Machete Pelao). In the middle of the way, we will visit a small natural waterfall to go for a refreshing dip.
After arriving to el Mamey, we will have lunch; then a vehicle will pick us up and drive us to La Aguacatera’s sector. There we will take a van with proper temperature that will drive us back to Santa Marta. Our return arrival is approximately at 4:00 p.m.
