Plaza Fernández de Madrid
It is located in the Historical Center of Cartagena, in the sector of San Diego, in front of the prestigious church of Santo Toribio.
It receives its name in honor of the hero of Colombian independence, José Fernández Madrid, signatory of the patriotic act of November 11, 1811, for which there is a monument of this transcendental character in the middle of the square.
However, in the past it received other names such as Plaza de los Jagüeyes, Plaza de Santo Toribio, including the Cabildo proposed to be called 'Plaza General Francisco de Paula Santander'.
