The name has the word "Bovedas" (Vaults) in honor of the military maults, the last military construction made in Cartagena de Indias by Antonio de Arevalo, an engineer in the XVIII Century; and "Santa Clara" because it is a neighbor of the ancient Saint Claire of Assisi Convent. The hotel is diagonal to these sites.

The Hotel is a product of a detailed restoration process and design of the famous construction firm Arias, Serna & Saravia. You can appreciate variations in this magnificent Republican-style building, such as the change of the balustrade in wood for concrete and sober decorative details in the façade, maintaining the Colonial style such as its floors, tiled rooftops and ceilings.
