Cartagena International Music Festival 2017

The XI International Music Festival will have as guest country to France as part of the organization of the Year Colombia-France 2017. The theme for this year is 'symbol and Sound: Paris and French music from the early 1900'.

The festival will seek to give an overview of French music that began at the end of the nineteenth century and continued at the beginning of the twentieth century. It will start from French impressionism, exploring synthetically the before and after, and the differences that this had with other currents of French music.

There will be significant works by French artists defined as Impressionists (Debussy, Ravel, Dukas, Satie, Caplet, Tournemire, Roussel, etc.) and other musicians who have followed different poetic and artistic trends (Saint Saëns, d'Indy, Milhaud , Poulenc, Durey, Chabrier, etc.).

Paris, the city that was the cradle that housed the birth of one of the most productive and creative periods of Western music; where the music breathed and lived with the numerous and vital musical centers like theaters, conservatories, publishing houses and many more. Paris and its atmosphere give the artists what they most long for: A source of inspiration and imagination.
