InterContinental: Christmas Eve and New Year

“May this Christmas be a reason for a plenty happiness, and the New Year a hope for success and prosperity. Peace and love in these festivities. Merry Christmas and prosperous New Year” … These are the wishes of the Intercontinental Hotel, which has prepared dinners, brunches and buffets, to bid farewell the 2018.

Christmas Eve at Kanuú Restaurant

The gastronomic spirit of Christmas Eve will be present in the Kanuú Restaurant, not only with its setting, but also with the elaboration of the most traditional recipes that make of this date a reason for celebration around the world.

For the executive chef of the Intercontinental Hotel, Juan Jiménez, the selected menu includes recipes that make of this experience a true delight to the palate in a warm and cozy atmosphere.

The buffet will have cold and hot stations, as well as a dessert table. Among the dishes that attract most attention, there are the European buds with blue cheese pearls and pecans, the green rice with almonds of the middle east; and, the infallible ones, such as the American turkey, baked on its own juices, or the slow-cooking pork leg served with crispy skin and Oporto wine sauce, as well as the sauces of blueberries and orange. Among the sweet temptations, the diners will enjoy the “natilla” and the French Christmas trunk.

Christmas Brunch

On December 25^th, 2018, at 11:00 in the morning, the diners can enjoy a brunch in which they will find:

Juices

Natural fruit juices (orange and strawberry).

Breads

Basket of assorted breads with jam and butter.

Cold delicacies

Assortment of seasonal fruit, nicoise salad, pickled palm hearts, Caesar salad, roast beef with herbs and salad.

Hot delicacies

Asparagus cream and brie cheese, tacos of chicken and loin, ham to the orange, “carimañolas” of meat and cheese, fish bruschetta, egg muffin with veggies, hash brown potatoes.

Sweet delicacies

Mini petit fours.

San Silvestre Night

Saying goodbye to the year in Cartagena is a huge privilege with the magic that catches the Caribbean spirit and the festive atmosphere of this time. The Intercontinental Hotel, loyal to its international tradition, offers a buffet dinner with live music at its Kanuú restaurant to start the evening and, later at night, to receive the year, you will be served with a glass of sparkling wine and the fireworks can be admired above the Immensity of the sea, among whistles, music and hugs.

The buffet dinner prepared by chef Juán Jiménez, starts with a welcome glass of wine, and includes a table of maturated cheeses and meats, a cold salad bar, and exotic recipes of birds, seafood and hunting animals such as lamb, which provide the delicious honey and tamarind lamb skewer or the crunchy prawns with coconut. The sweet touch is provided by the profiteroles, macarons, the almond baba, and the black and white chocolate truffles with orange and whisky, just to mention a few desserts from the selected assortment. Typical fried delicacies and a hot broth at dawn.

The menu offers vegetarian, vegan and healthy options for those who prefer it. Among these specialties there are: quinoa with dried fruits, mint, veggies and endives; hummus, babaganush, carrot's "crudites", celery, cucumber, cherry tomato, and asparagus; assortment of fresh leaves and European buds; cherry tomatoes with rosemary and roasted garlics; asparagus marinated with Maldón salt and white truffle; fish, capers and avocado ceviche; salmon carpaccio with dill and other delicacies.

New Year’s Buffet

To celebrate the beginning of a new year, you can enjoy a buffet on January 1^st, 2019, starting at 12:00 p.m.
